As Janelas Verdes is a small charming Boutique hotel in the historic center of Lisbon. This 18th century palace is next to the National Ancient Art Museum. With its small garden and the top floor library overlooking the river, this mansion transmits a romantic and welcoming feeling. The rooms are sunny and cheerful and the Tagus is close by.

Next to the National Art Museum in the beautiful Rua das Janelas Verdes is a small palace dating from the end of the 18th century which is also called As Janelas Verdes (Green Windows).

Part of an 18th century townhouse – next to the National Ancient Art Museum – this romantic boutique hotel encapsulates the tradition and serenity of the gestures exchanged between ladies and gentlemen.
Objects d’art, books and family photos set the scene for a romantic novel. In actual fact, this house is believed to have been the inspiration for the famous «Ramalhete» from the literary work «Os Maias» written by Eça de Queiróz who is said to have lived there.
Reading, talking, looking at the blue line of the Tagus from the library terrace. Taking tea in the interior garden where the cast iron spiral staircase stands out, eaten up by the age-old climbing plant. The choice is yours. As in a friend’s home, all the areas of As Janelas Verdes are exclusive for our guests.
In spring the singing of the birds sways the emotions whilst you have breakfast in the garden whenever you like. Inside the house, the water from the fountain which decorates the central shaft rises gently. The sun – uninvited – enters the rooms decorated in soft tones of coral and woo. Alluring!

The house, like the street of the same name, deserves to be discovered slowly, little by little, all the time savouring its gentle, romantic, welcoming atmosphere.

Eça de Queirós, the famous Portuguese novelist, is connected to the hotel by tradition and there are those who say that he lived and found inspiration here in this palace for another magical home - „O Ramalhete“ in his novel „Os Maias“. The memory of his presence is still very much alive in the atmosphere we find ourselves immersed in: small objets d‘art, books, paintings and mementoes take us back to another era now being relived.

The rooms are sunny and cheerful. The Tagus is close by. One feels good here. When Spring arrives, the days begin with a wonderful breakfast served in the garden while you breathe in the calm of an older Lisbon where it still feels good to feel love.
