The origins of the Castle of Montignano date back to 962 when Ottone I of Saxony was crowned in Milan as Emperor of Germany and King of Italy by Pope John XII and he tried immediately to create ranks of loyal feudal lords in central and southern Italy.

The Renovation started in February 2005 and was completed in February 2009. The interior design and the furnishings were attended by designer Claudia Bisceglie, art director and marketing&communications manager of castello di Montignano.

The Guesthouse „Torrione“ is the old tower of the Castle dating back to X century, completely restored and situated next to the castle. It has independent entrance and an external gateway to reach the common areas and halls of the castle. The Guesthouse includes three big apartments called Red, Green and Blue, reflecting the colors of the furniture. All apartments have telephone, TV LCD, heating and refrigerator.

The Red apartment is situated on the ground floor of the tower and has big living-room with stone walls and vaulted ceilings with fireplace, kitchenette, sitting-room with sofa-bed, double bedroom with queen size bed and two bathrooms. Our Classic Rooms enjoy the same dimensions of those of the castle’s original ones (>20 sq.mt), thereby evoking memories of its medieval past. They are furnished originally with renovated pieces of furniture which create a style of contamination and design.

The bedrooms and apartments are called after the various families who once owned the castle since 1200 up till today and they have direct access to the SPA by the special lift. Moreover, they are all supplied with Room service, TV LCD 32‘, with Sky TV and Pay Per View, autonomous air-conditioning, Laundry Service, Direct Dial Phone, ADSL Internet connection, Minibar and Safe.

Our Deluxe Rooms are all spacious (>30 sq.mt), with panoramic views over the surrounding valleys or a small balcony for meditation. They are furnished with a design which reinterprets the original furnishings that once belonged to the castle’s former owners. The bedrooms have high, wooden beam or truss ceilings. Spacious bathrooms with a renovated and design atmosphere.

Our suites 50 sq.mt with private sitting room) offer a magnificent view over the surrounding valleys. They have truss ceilings and bathrooms with bathtubs of great architectural value. Sumptuous suites are offered as well as other suites built out of the old castle vaults and other suites with a fireplace. The design of our suites draws from natural materials and from the surrounding countryside, while their interiors are guided by the idea of historical contamination, reinterpreted with a modern touch. The furnishings are all authentic ones belonging to the castle.

WEDDINGS & EVENTS

Castello di Montignano is a fairy-tale location for elegant and modern weddings: a unique experience blending history, design and the magic of a Castle.
The Castle has different areas dedicated to events and weddings suitable for up to 250 people: the park with swimming-pool has a new elegant external structure with cloister dominated by a century-old olive tree and surrounded by a park with swimming-pool and by the façade of the castle.
Inside, there are evocative ground floor halls with old stone arches, walls and vaulted ceilings; the hall on the first floor has an impressive fireplace dating back to the Middle Ages; then the Imperial room on the fourth floor and, finally, Acquadegna Spa with pool, steam bath and cool waterfall for those who wish to have a warm bath after a wedding with some friends… perhaps with champagne and cocktails in the relax area next to the spa.

MEETINGS
Castello di Montignano hosts high standard meetings and entertainment events such as presentations of products, small and big conventions. Montignano is an evocative location also for the organization of corporate dinners and day spa for managers and collaborators.
The particular position of Montignano, on a green hill in central Italy, just 2 km from the exit Massa Martana from E45 and from the International airport of Umbria and just 50 minutes from Rome North exit, makes it very easy to reach from every part of Italy. Our Relais has five meeting rooms: an elegant structure in the park next to the pool for up to 250 people, the fireplace hall and the imperial room ideal for small meetings, workshops or launch of products; the arch hall and the vaulted hall on the ground floor are suitable for up to 60 people. In case of a meeting, we have availability of maximum 18 doubles for single use.
